Gadsden Regional Medical Center, a major regional hospital with complete inpatient and outpatient care, is the primary teaching hospital for the residency program. Foothills Family Medicine Clinic is the continuity outpatient clinical practice for our patients. We have an active family medicine inpatient service to which we admit patients from our clinic and the emergency room. This service is run by GRMC Family Medicine residents under the supervision of our faculty physicians. We provide inpatient and outpatient care for all ages and the full spectrum of Family Medicine, including OB/GYN, newborn, pediatric, and adolescent care, as well as adult and geriatric care. We also provide medical consultations for other hospital services. Residents rotate throughout the hospital during their training, in such areas as the Emergency Room, ORs, ICU, Labor & Delivery, and newborn nursery.

Our Family Medicine clinic provides high quality, state-of-the-art care. Residents are in their continuity clinics on a regular basis and care for patients from diverse cultural, socioeconomical and locational backgrounds. The patient-payor mix encompasses private insurance, self-pay, Medicaid, and Medicare patients. Our clinic is fully staffed with outstanding personnel, including lab technicians, medical assistants, and administrative support. Additionally, we provide point-of-care ultrasound (including OB), a wide spectrum of dermatologic care (biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy), joint aspirations and injections, contraceptive management (IUD’s, Nexplanon) and osteopathic manipulation for our patients.
